The Challenge

The aim of this project was to design a windshield wiper mechanism that would effectively wipe the curved surface of the windshield of this E-trike.

Ideation

The challenging part we encountered while ideating was to create a mechanism that would not interfear with the driver's vision for this unconventional shape of a windshield. The shape of the glass forces the windshield wiper to stay vertical, even when resting, as the windshield is too narrow for the wiper to rest horizontally.

Prototyping

We discovered that a system where two arms of different length that simultaneously hold the wiper blade would be the most efficient structure. This mechanism allows the blade to stay vertical at all times which also avoids getting in the way of the driver's visibility.
